All Buy a Barcode numbers can be used without restriction to all retail stores excluding only GS1 Alliance Member stores. The GS1 alliance member stores are generally only major supermarkets (grocery stores). These stores are regulated by the GS1 barcoding system and each company must register directly with GS1 to receive barcode numbers issued by GS1. Once they have received there barcode numbers they can then contact a company like Barcode Solutions to have the digital barcodes produced and then have them sent back to GS1 for testing.
